Lincoln Aviator Concept Gallery

Lincoln's latest SUV is merely a concept at this point, but the automaker isn't shy to refer you to the production vehicle it's likely to spawn next year. The Aviator Concept follows the Navigator in adding to Lincoln's SUV range, filling in a midsize luxury gap that has been conspicuous by its continued presence. And, though it's only a concept right now, the Aviator is already shaping up to be interesting.

Outside, it's a deft blend of Continental sedan and Navigator SUV. It's also the automaker's first SUV to use a plug-in hybrid powertrain, combining batteries with a twin-turbocharged gas engine. The upshot, Lincoln promises, is not only frugality but refinement on the road.

Inside, three rows offer plenty of space, and Lincoln has been showing off its taste for unusual trim. The machined aluminum panels are a pleasant change from the wood or polished aluminum we've seen so many times before. Here's hoping they make it through to the showroom version.
