LG BL40 "New Chocolate" Gets Official: Launches Q3
The first official information about the BL40 "New Chocolate" feature-phone from LG has emerged, complete with several glossy shots of the 21:9 aspect touchscreen device. As expected, the BL40 has a 4.0-inch 800 x 345 "cinema-like" display, which LG suggest is ideal for viewing full-width webpages without zooming. Elsewhere, the company has introduced a "Dual Screen UI" which splits the display in two for showing multiple content-types simultaneously.
LG have also acknowledged some of the doubts expressed about the BL40's form-factor, a long, thin and narrow candybar. "Although much interest seems focused on the striking shape of the handset," says the company's CEO, "the real surprise will be when people discover the advantages of the 4.0-inch screen in terms of viewing pleasure and ease of use."
That screen is overlaid with curved tempered glass. Other specs aren't officially confirmed as yet, the the phone is expected to have a 5-megapixel camera, 7.2Mbps HSPA, WiFi and A-GPS. LG say the BL40 "New Chocolate" will launch in Q3 2009 across 54 different countries.
