Lenovo's New IdeaPad U330, Y430, Y530 And Y730 Announced

Lenovo has delivered details on the range of IdeaPad consumer notebooks it first discussed at the beginning of the year.  The four new models – the U330, Y430, Y530 and Y730 – slot in above the successful U110 and offer a range of display sizes and casing color schemes.

The U330 comes in either glossy indigo blue or ebony black, and measures just 0.9-inches thick.  Powered by an Intel Centrino processor, there's also Dolby Home Theatre and touch-sensitive controls, plus an HDMI port and optional built-in DVD burner. Thanks to the LED backlight for the display and switchable discrete/onboard graphics, battery life is rated at up to 5hrs. Security is catered for by VeriFace, which uses the webcam to recognise individual faces and unlock files.

Meanwhile, the IdeaPad Y430 and Y530 notebooks are intended to fill the space vacated by the recently killed-off Lenovo 3000-series. Blu-ray drives are optional, and they carry the same security and file protection features as the rest of the IdeaPad range. Color options include black and textured-red, and the display is frameless.

Finally, the Y730 is an update to the Y710, offering gamers and power-users alike a choice of up to two 320 GB hot-swappable hard drives as well as Centrino CPUs. There's also a frameless screen, touch sensitive controls, Dolby Home Theatre, One-Key Rescue System, VeriFace facial recognition, support for HDMI and an optional Blu-Ray DVD player.

All of the new machines will be available in the Fall, priced at $699 and $949 for the IdeaPad Y430 and Y530. Lenovo are yet to announce pricing for the U330 and Y730.
