Lenovo Smart Display Gallery
The Google Assistant is getting a screen to go with its voice, and Lenovo's Smart Display is first to store shelves. Offered in two sizes – 8-inch and 10-inch – both are bigger than the touchscreen on the Amazon Echo Show, but the core premise is the same. Augment what were initially voice-only virtual assistants with graphics and more.
Google arguably has an easier time with it, porting across the "cards" UI we're familiar with from Android smartphones. The Smart Display gets a 720p webcam for Google Duo calls, too, with a handy privacy shutter that physically blocks the camera when you don't want to be contacted. There's also a dual 10W speaker array for music.
On the back of the 10-inch model there's a fetching bamboo panel. The smaller 8-inch version gets soft-touch grey plastic instead.
