Were Lamborghini's goal be to simply coax even more power out of the Aventador, that would be one thing. The Aventador SVJ Roadster, though, has a far more challenging task: not only to be more powerful than the regular Aventador S, but make that power usable too. That means a 770 horsepower convertible that can corner.

The answer is ALA 2.0, the second generation of the Italian automaker's aerodynamics system. No vast wing and articulated bodywork: instead, Lamborghini uses targeted airflow to change the way the Aventador SVJ Roadster plays with downforce and drag. The result? 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds, and a car with cornering that belies its not-inconsiderable curb weight.

Of course, the big difference here is the removable roof: carbon fiber panels that stow inside the front trunk. That way you get to really hear the 6.5-liter V12 engine howl, and howl it does. Nobody ever accused an Aventador of being subtle, but the SVJ Roadster cranks that up to legendary levels.
