Koenigsegg never does things by halves, but even by the Swedish automaker's standards the Jesko is shaping up to be something particularly special. Set to be the fastest car that the company has ever made, it's a 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 love-letter to internal combustion. The engine, though, may not even be the most interesting part.

That honor is reserved for the gearbox, or as the automaker would have it, the Koenigsegg Light Speed Transmission. It's a patented way to make the world's fastest shifting transmission, Koenigsegg says, combining nine forward gears and seven wet, multidisc clutches. Through opening and closing those clutches, the Jesko can upshift or downshift without any interruption to the power delivery.

Outside, you'll be able to tell the difference between the handling-focused Jesko and the speed-focused Jesko Absolut by the presence of the vast rear wing: this eye-searing Tang Orange Pearl example is the former. Inside, there's a typically lavish cabin, with some equally typical thoughtful features. Turn the steering wheel, and the digital dashboard graphics turn with it.
