Big, brash, and very, very read. The Kia HabaNiro may be named after a pun on chili peppers, but there's more than just spice inside the automaker's New York Auto Show 2019 concept car. Intended to preview Kia's vision of what an electrified vehicle of tomorrow might look and feel like, it's definitely striking.

The beefy exterior opens up – via huge butterfly hinge doors – to expose a bright red cabin. That has floating seats and a notable absence of traditional controls. Instead, Kia envisages a windshield-spanning head-up display showing all the graphics you need, its 3D interfaace controlled by a concave touchpad.

As a pure EV, it would have more than 300 miles of range from a charge. Kia envisions both manually-piloted and Level 5 autonomous driving modes, too. While the eye-catching doors may not be in Kia's production future any time soon, the automaker says that it's not impossible that HabaNiro style cues could well show up in vehicles you can actually buy.
