Kanye West Says He's Making A Video Game
Kanye West, whether you love him or hate him, is nearly everywhere these days. The places one can escape West's ever-growing presence are shrinking, and now it's time to cross video games off the list of safe zones. During a radio interview with Power 105.1 on Saturday, the hip-hop star snuck in a mention about making his own video game, and get this, it's based on one of his own songs. The untitled game is said to be inspired by Only One, the recent single West wrote about his daughter with Kim Kardashian.
The interview runs for roughly an hour, and the video can be watched below. During his time at the radio station, West spent most of the time discussing the usual topics, such as an upcoming album and his recent collaboration with Adidas to release his own sneakers and other fashion items. It's towards the end of the interview (jump to the 56-minute mark) when he brings up that he will be designing and producing a game himself.
West described a few vague details about the as yet untitled game, including that it is based on the song Only One, and has already been in the works for the last six months. The theme of the song is an imagined conversation between his daughter and mother, who passed away in 2007. As for the game, West said, "The idea is that it's my mother going through the gates of heaven, and you've got to bring her to the highest gate of heaven by holding her to the light."
There was no mention of when the game might be finished, let alone a solid release date, and judging from the sound of it, it seems unlikely to be something hitting the major game consoles. Probably better to set our expectation on something like a Flash or HTML5 game posted on West's official website.
