Jeep Detroit Assembly Complex Mack Gallery

Affectionately known as Mack, the Detroit Assembly Plant – Mack is one of a number of facilities Jeep uses in Detroit, MI. Back in December 2019, the automaker announced it would see a huge renovation, $1.6 billion spent on making the plant thoroughly modern, and up to a significant challenge. That's making it the home of production for the new Jeep Grand Cherokee.

It'll start with the 2021 Grand Cherokee L, the first three-row version of Jeep's SUV. Later on, the two-row version will arrive, and a Grand Cherokee 4xe. That will have a plug-in hybrid drivetrain.

The Mack site has some history. There's been more than 100 years of manufacturing there, though nothing quite so impressive as its new form. That sees 3 million square feet of floor space, shared by three facilities – Body Shop, Paint Shop, and General Assembly – as human and robot workers collaborate to build the new high-end SUV.
