Injustice 2 story trailer arrives: bitter fights between former friends

Shortly after learning the game's release date, we've gotten our first story trailer for Injustice 2, giving us our first decent and long look at the title. The trailer is dubbed "The Lines are Redrawn," and it gives us a glimpse of a world in which superheroes are fallen beings, where old friends are new enemies. It is, overall, quite dark, and presents many of the major characters in the series, including Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman.

We learned the game's release date earlier this month — it was first revealed in a cryptic tweet, and soon after confirmed for May 16, 2017. Injustice 2 follows Injustice: Gods Among Us, and comes from DC Entertainment and Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment. Depending on your region, the game may launch on May 19 rather than May 16.

This certainly isn't the first time we've seen bits and pieces of the game — our first look came months ago in the form of an announcement trailer. At almost 3 minutes in length, though, the story trailer above gives our best look yet, including a narrative that lays out what we can expect from the installment's storyline.

The first title, Gods Among Us, was released in 2013 and proved a hit among DC fans. This next installment in the series will be available on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 consoles. Characters will include Blue Beetle, Gorilla Grodd, Aquaman, and more. Pricing isn't clear at this time.
