In 2019, Galaxy S10 Is The Ballot

The future of the smartphone rests in the hands of the Samsung Galaxy S10. There, in the year 2019, Samsung's set up a number of tests – so to speak. With each different Galaxy S10 model, Samsung's testing what works. Each different model has a set of specifications for which users around the world will vote with their cash.

Vote 1: Galaxy S10 Lite

The Galaxy S10 Lite will likely have a flat display – that's unlike anything Samsung's put into a major smartphone (AAA release) in the last several years. If it were up to me, I'd always have a flat display – the edges just don't do it for me. Especially when it comes to the Galaxy Note series with the S Pen stylus – always with the sliding off the edges and such.

The Galaxy S10 Lite might also be the only Galaxy S10 with a headphone jack. If it is, then a Galaxy S10 Lite buy would be a vote for headphone jacks everywhere. If not, then... probably Samsung knows the headphone jack is here to stay.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite:

• Display: 5.8-inches (flat)

• Back Cameras: 2x lens

• Front Camera: 1x punch-hole lens

• Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855/Exynos 9820

• Fingerprint Sensor: Side-mounted

• Connectivity: 4G LTE

• Back: Glass

Vote 2: Galaxy S10 (Edge)

The Galaxy S10 (not lite, not Plus), will be a vote for the edge display, also known as Samsung's Infinity Display. All three Galaxy S10 models (pre-5G) will have holes in their displays. The Lite and S10 will have single circles, while the Plus will have a more pill-shaped hole, all for front-facing cameras. If nobody buys a phone with a hole in its display, no more hole-toting displays will be made – but good luck with that!

Galaxy S10 will probably have one front-facing camera and three back-facing cameras. The Galaxy S10 and S10 Plus will probably have ever-so-slightly more extensive camera abilities – not necessarily better standard out-of-box camera performance. But we shall see!

Samsung Galaxy S10 (Edge):

• Display: 6.1-inches (curved)

• Back Cameras: 2x lens

• Front Camera: 1x punch-hole lens

• Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855/Exynos 9820

• Fingerprint Sensor: Ultrasonic in-display

• Connectivity: 4G LTE

• Back: Glass

Vote 3: Galaxy S10 Plus

A buy of any one of the Galaxy S10 models is a vote for that screen size. Galaxy S10 Plus will have a bigger display than all previous Galaxy S smartphones – while its body will be roughly the same size as a Galaxy Note 7. It's gonna be wacky. And it'll be a vote for mega-giant displays everywhere.

The Galaxy S10 Plus will probably be the most expensive Galaxy S10 ever – at least until the Galaxy S10 5G rolls out. If you're not a fan of ever-increasing AAA smartphone prices, you might want to stick with the Galaxy S10 Lite. Don't let the "Lite" fool you – it'll be more powerful than the Galaxy S9, just not quite as feature-packed as the Galaxy S10 or S10 Plus. You're still getting a top-tier Galaxy S smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy S10 Plus:

• Display: 6.44-inches (curved)

• Back Cameras: 3x lens

• Front Cameras: 2x punch-hole lens (pill shaped)

• Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 855/Exynos 9820

• Fingerprint Sensor: Ultrasonic in-display

• Connectivity: 4G LTE

• Back: Glass

Big Money

Those with the big dollars will drop their cash on the 5G Samsung Galaxy S10 that'll come later in the year. Somewhere around the 2nd quarter of the year – March, April, May, somewhere around there. This is when the major carriers will be ready to roll with their 5G network rollouts – at least enough to release a phone, or a hotspot, or more than a couple products.

The big money Galaxy S10 will have some other features not on the rest of the devices, but this will be less about voting with your cash and more about matter-of-factly releasing the first major 5G phone. So feel free to save up your cash for that, but know this: the real votes are hitting early.

Galaxy S10 Release Date

The Samsung Galaxy S10 release date will likely hit on or around March 8th, 2019. This will come not long after the next major Samsung event, one that's rumored to come on February 20th, 2019. On that date we're expecting to see the Samsung Galaxy S10 Lite, Galaxy S10, and Galaxy S10 Plus. The Galaxy S10 5G model(s) will probably be revealed after this event, some time before the 2nd quarter of the year.
