Honda 4-Motor EV Prototype Gallery
Honda wanted to show that raw power isn't everything, and so it cooked up a demonstration for how four smaller electric motors could take on the infamous Pikes Peak International Hill Climb and win. The result is the 4-Motor Electric SH-AWD with Precision All-Wheel Steer concept, which bears a slight resemblance to the CR-Z it was mildly based upon, but which introduces a unique powertrain.

Each wheel gets its own electric motor for torque vectoring, meaning each can be individually controlled for the best traction and performance. The prototype took the top spot in its Exhibition class at Pikes Peak earlier this year, and now Honda is looking at ways it could potentially commercialize the system for future production cars.
