Galaxy A40 To Only Sport Dual Cameras On Its Back
It seems that Samsung is back to its old ways of flooding the smartphone market with every variation possible. This time, it's using its Galaxy A series as a test bed for different styles and technologies, perhaps seeing which ones will resonate with customers. It has just announced A Galaxy Event next month for what is believed to be the Galaxy A90. It may not be alone, though, as renders for a certain Galaxy A40 have popped up, though not with glad tidings.
The Galaxy A40 is as traditional as a mid-range phone can be these days. And, yes, that means it does have a notch, though only a waterdrop one. It has some bezels but it's almost invisible in these renders given how thick the frame seems to be.
The back is where most of the action and the disappointment lies. It was earlier rumored that the Galaxy A40 would have triple cameras but these freshly leaked renders claim otherwise. You only get two, though their exact specs are still unknown. You also find a fingerprint scanner there, so no in-screen or even side-mounted sensor this time around.
On the upside, it does have a headphone jack standing beside a USB C port. The Galaxy A40 is expected to be powered by a Samsung Exynos 7885 from 2017 and will have a generous 4,000 mAh battery. In other words, Samsung is aiming for all-day performance rather than fancy features.
That does make the Galaxy A40 an odd duck in the more experimental Galaxy A family. But at 250 EUR ($284), those who want a budget phone from a reputable brand probably won't complain too much.
