Fortnite Vending Machine Exploit Gives Players Multiple Free Items
The recently released Fortnite 8.10 update brought a number of changes, including one applied to vending machines: they now offer free items, but they also explode. Under the change, vending machines no longer have a material cost, instead giving players a single item for free. After issuing that item, the machine explodes so that it can't be used again. This new exploit gets around that limitation in certain game modes.Fortnite no longer has Common and Uncommon vending machine tiers, which means players get higher-tier loot from the machines they do find. The downside is that you can no longer harvest max resources and then purchase multiple items from these machines.
Instead, you get something for free, but only one thing. The change is fair, giving players an equal shot at getting items. An exploit to get around this limitation was published on the FortniteBR subreddit recently, where a video shows how to get each member in a team a free item: countdown to when you press the button and time it to match everyone else near the machine.
Assuming every person in the team presses the button for the vending machine at the same time, it will dispense items for each player before exploding. The method isn't foolproof -- someone who hits the button a second too late won't get an item, and someone who hits it too early will deprive everyone else of items.
Teams who manage to hit the button at the right time, however, can make sure everyone gets the same loot, and there's no need for anyone to waste materials. Because this isn't how the vending machines are supposed to work, the odds are high that Epic will remove the bug soon.
