Fortnite purple cube transforms Loot Lake into giant bounce pad

The giant purple cube in Epic Games' hit battle royale game Fortnite has apparently reached its destination, a spot many fans had guessed would be the final resting place: Loot Lake. The map's giant lake, home to small islands and an isolated house, is now a giant, gelatinous blob of purple bouncy magic.Fortnite fans watched the cube with great interest earlier today, entire livestreams having been dedicated to following the cube's progression as it rested, nearly tipped, at the edge of the lake. Many questioned whether the cube would roll into the lake or pass alongside it, but around noon today, the answer arrived: it entered the lake.

The event was caught on video by a number of players who report seeing the purple cube melt into the lake like a giant piece of sugar. A purple electricity dispersed into the water, transforming the lake into a purple mass. Initially it seemed that nothing would happen, but seconds later an eruption exploded into the air.

After that, the lake became a giant bounce pad, allowing players to jump across it with the same weightlessness as bouncing on the cube itself. There are some notable differences — you can't anger the purple lake by shooting it, for example, and it no longer hits people with lightning bolts if disturbed.

The change comes right on time. Fortnite season 5 is less than a week away from from ending, which will usher in season 6 and all the big changes fans have been expecting. Players have only a handful of days left to complete the season 5 challenges and unlock the rewards before they're gone forever.
