Forget Your Bricked iPhone, Try The Stoned iPod

What would you do if you opened up your brand new (still sealed) iPod only to find rocks in place of your portable music player? You'd probably have a fit and take it back to the store. Now what if this happened a second time, at a different store? It did.

No, thankfully this didn't happen to me. Rather, it happened to a woman in Texas who purchased a new iPod from Target for her daughter's 14th birthday. When the daughter opened the box, she found the rocks. (yes, I realize that this sounds like something from Dr. Seuss, but you're not focusing on the real point) Naturally, the mother took back the iPod and got store credit (she used her Target card, and that's what you get). Unfortunately, they were currently out of stock on the model she wanted, so she took her daughter to the closest Target store which was a good 20 miles away.

This is where the story gets weird. The woman picked up her new iPod and paid for it, and proceeded to open it in front of several store employees (likely to prove that she wasn't crazy) and once again found rocks. Everyone was quite shocked, especially considering the box was shrink-wrapped.

Target is investigating this matter, as it is more than likely someone in one of their shipping centers that is performing the old switcheroo. Having working in retail, I know that there is almost always a method for shrinkwrapping products in the store, and likely the shipping centers have them as well.
