Ford F-250 Trucks Recalled Over Roll Away Concerns

We're only a few months into 2017 and there's already a significant number of cars on the road affected by an open recall. Unfortunately there's no signs of slowdown for this issue, as Ford this weekend announced its third recall in less than a week — this time for the latest F-250 pickup model. Even more alarming is the issue the trucks are being recalled for: there's the possibility they could roll away while parked.

Ford says the recall applies to the 2017 F-250 truck, with 53,000 vehicles affected, all sold in the US and Canada. The concern is that the pickups can roll away even after the transmission has been set to Park. The manufacturer says there have been no reports of accidents or injuries due to the issue, but drivers are asked to use the hand brake to make sure the vehicle doesn't move when parked.

The specific trucks being recalled are said to all have a 6.2-liter V8 engine, and were built at the Ford plant in Louisville, Kentucky between October 2015 and this last week. F-250 drivers can enter their VIN number on the NHTSA website to see if they have an affected model.

The company notes that it will be replacing defective parts at no cost to owners, with the work being carried out at Ford dealerships. Replacement parts are not yet available, however, but drivers will be contacted when they are ready.
