FON Teams Up With Time Warner Cable
Since DSL came to my town about 5 years ago, I've been setting up Wi-Fi networks for friends, family and businesses. Even though it can be a pain sometimes, I think Wi-Fi has to be one of my favorite technologies of all time. It's nice to just get away from all of the wires and yet still be connected to the rest of the world.
That's why I commend FON on their efforts to make connecting to Wi-Fi hotspots easier. All you have to do is sign up with FON and whenever you're near one of their hotspots, you're automatically connected; no hassling with setting up your wireless settings, you're just connected.
Their efforts seem to be getting noticed by some of the big players in internet access. They've recently closed on a deal with Time Warner Cable to significantly increase the number of hotspots available by allowing home users to distribute Wi-Fi as a FON hotspot. Now if they can just get a few more big names to jump on board, we might be seeing FON hotspots everywhere.
