DIY universal volume controls for headphones or earbuds

Over on Instructables you can find the full directions for the project. The project requires a male stereo jack, a female stereo jack, stereo audio wire, 1Kohm thumbwheel audio potentiometer for volume control, heat shrink tubing, solder, wire strippers, and more.

The author recommends stripping the needed parts off your old gear lying around the house. I am sure we all have some headphones we don't use anymore. The full instructions for wiring the works up and getting it to work are offered. This seems like an easy DIY project for the beginner.
