Dell CEO Says the Company's Transformation Isn't Complete Yet

Michael Dell, the CEO and founder of Dell Inc., found himself in front of plenty of folks aching to get a round of questions into him at the Sanford C. Bernstein Strategic Decisions Conference on Thursday. He had quite a few interesting answers to those questions, but as luck would have it, he was unwilling to actually expand on some of the more interesting ones. Like, for example, his mention of taking his company private.

Michael Dell, when asked if he had ever considered taking his company, the one he founded, to the private sector, said that he had, in fact, considered the change. However, when he was asked a follow-up, about what would make him consider the option more seriously, he declined to clarify the position. No help came from a Dell spokesperson, either, as they refused to comment as well.

Also noteworthy, is the fact that Dell admitted that his company had lost its way after a strong period of growth. His company has been in a position of transformation ever since, but that right now it isn't complete. He does believe that the necessary changes are taking place right now, as they are seeing encouraging signs from the different stations of its business. Hopefully Dell's got a few more tricks up its sleeves for the coming years, as the market continues to shift.
