Bored geek + lots of empty Sprite bottles = icosahedrons

We all know that many geeks like to do what they do best, make stuff out of nothing for no reason other than because they can. Such is the case over at Make when an enterprising builder with some time and a bunch of used soda bottles went to work creating icosahedrons from the mess.

Feel free to go look up icosahedrons, we will wait for you. Basically, the thing is a construction of 20 equilateral triangles that meet in groups of five at the vertex. The designer the structures is Mario Marin and the dude must drink a lot of bottled Sprite.

In addition to the design pictured above, he also made something similar out of cardboard with a red light source inside. He them crammed empty bottle into each triangles flat surface to create a lamp that is cool.
