BMW has put its i4 all-electric car into testing, and the sleek four-door coupe is shaping up to be a handsome entrant into the EV segment. Expected to be the third of BMW's new models to use its 5th generation BMW eDrive platform, the i4 will follow the BMW iX3 and the iNEXT to market. Whereas the iX3 should go on sale from 2020, we'll have to wait until 2021 for production of the i4 to begin.
BMW says that its new sedan should deliver approximately 600 km of range on a charge, or around 374 miles. That's on the European cycle, mind, rather than under US EPA testing which typically delivers lower range figures. We're expecting something more like 300 miles for US range.
Power, though, might sway you. BMW says it's equipping the i4 with 390 kW or 530 horsepower, enough for 0-62 mph in around 4.0 seconds. Not bad at all for a car with no emissions.
