Beats Solo headphones have been some of the most popular on-ear headphones in the world, and now they're getting a big upgrade to keep the city at bay. The new Beats Solo Pro add active noise cancelation, Beats tapping into the same Pure Adaptive Noise Cancelling (Pure ANC) technology it used on its Beats Studio3 Wireless. That uses microphones on the outside of the headphones to isolate external noise, and microphones within the ear cushions with which it can compare the results to make sure you're not losing anything of the original music recording.

You can toggle Pure ANC on and off using a button on one earcup, as well as turn on Transparency mode. That allows through some environmental noise, so that you're not blindsided by traffic or a flight attendant offering you peanuts. On the other side, a multifunction button controls playback and voice assistants, as well as volume.

With Apple's H1 onboard there's hands-free access to "Hey Siri"; Beats also has an Android app so that those without iPhones can still get things like easy-pairing. Apple Audio Sharing allows streaming to any other headphones powered by the Apple H1. The Beats Solo Pro will ship from the end of October, priced at $299.95.
