Android, Audio, Video Game Consoles
- Sam ran and expanded the gaming hardware coverage content at SoundGuys.
- Because of his time in audio, he has a deep-seated (but mild) dislike of most things Bluetooth. He has been putting off upgrading his Pixel 4a until he finds a suitable replacement with a headphone jack that doesn't cost him an arm, a leg, or the blood of his future firstborn.
- Before entering the media, Sam worked as a carpenter, building and renovating homes in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, which is helpful when he's editing Slashgear articles about power tools.
Experience
Sam has worked in media for over a decade, getting his start as an intern at magazines like Lion's Roar and Mindful, as well as websites like Canada's National Observer. He spent six years at Authority Media as a copy editor for Android Authority and then as a senior editor at SoundGuys, where he focused on gaming hardware coverage. During that time he also covered video game releases for Dgit, a website that no longer exists, and served as a second-string host to fellow SlashGear editor Adam Doud on the Dgit Daily Podcast.
Education
Sam attended Mount Allison University in Sackville, New Brunswick, Canada, and earned his bachelor's degree with a double major in English literature and history. He then earned a master's in journalism from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC, Canada.
