John Knight has been writing professionally for twenty years, primarily for computer magazines, though also in other areas such as motoring and music. His paid work began with online publications and websites such as Tux Magazine, linux.com, and Newsforge. John's printed magazine work began with Linux Format (US), where he ran the monthly new projects column. John then went on to write regular tutorials and features for Linux Format (UK) before doing regular historical features and a retro computing column for Maximum PC (US). Other appearances include the Australian magazines Eco Car, RAC Horizons, APC, and PC Powerplay, as well as Linux Magazine (Germany). John speaks intermediate French and enjoys double-kick drumming and five-string bass.

Education

John is trained in computer repairs, SEO, and text editing. He is studying psychology at Edith Cowan University, Western Australia.
