- As a professional photographer, videographer, and licensed drone pilot, Andy puts tech to the test in the real world on a daily basis. He has won multiple photography contests, including first prize in DJI's Share Your Autumn video competition and first prize in the UST Freeze Frame contest.
- Andy is a gaming and PC-building enthusiast. He built his first custom PC out of scrap wood and zip ties, with exterior panels of painted canvas lined with organic furnace filter. He has constructed many more conventional machines since then.
- He is an outdoors enthusiast, who frequently travels both on and off trail throughout the Pacific Northwest. He has described himself as a cyborg backpacker, as on these adventures he utilizes a wide range of technology from miniature action cameras to twenty-pound camera rigs, drones, and all manner of battery banks, navigational devices, and other assorted gadgets.
Experience
Andy has a decade of experience covering a wide range of topics from photography and technology to environmental activism. He has previously written for websites such as Digital Trends, Lifewire, and Seattle Backpackers Magazine, and produces content for charitable organizations such as the Friends of Willapa National Wildlife Refuge and the Legacy Forest Defense Coalition. His work has also been featured in televised advertisements, newscasts, and nature documentaries.
Education
Andy attended Lower Columbia College, where he studied photography, graphic design, arts magazine publication, and English composition. This unique combination of photography and journalism-related courses helped him to hone his skills for a career in online media creation.
