Audi A7 Design Workshop

What does it take to bring an idea to life? If you're Audi, and you're developing the brand new 2019 A7, it's a long trek through the Audi Design Studio. Staffed by the automaker's most talented designers and engineers, it's a combination of clay, digital modeling, and 3D printing.

Where once it took physical models to envisage every aspect of a car's new design, now Audi does much of its modeling in the virtual space instead. Computer controlled sculpting machines can take those designs and produce physical models in real-time. Meanwhile, designers are working on distinctive light signatures which will make the cars identifiable at a glance.
