ARCHOS DIamond Plus Smartphone Makes It Just In Time
Just when you thought ARCHOS was done spurting out one mobile device after another, it sneaks past one more just before IFA 2015 started. The third of its new Diamond family, the Diamond Plus smartphone is making the same appeal that Lenovo recently made with its new PHAB line: a bigger smartphone for those who want bigger things in life. That said, ARCHOS's phablet is not exactly as big as Lenovo's and it most certainly isn't as high performance as those either.
The "Plus" in the name should pretty much clue you in. The Diamond Plus is a bigger cousin of the recently announced ARCHOS Diamond S smartphone. Here, "bigger" means a 5.5-inch screen that luckily now sports a 1080p resolution. Good thing it also has a bigger battery, too, marked at 2,850 mAh.
That, however, is the extent of its Plus offering. Inside, it's pretty much the same as the Diamond S, which means a 1.5 GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6753, 2 GB of RAM, and even the same 16 GB of internal storage. At least the cameras are also exactly the same, which means it has a large-ish 16 megapixel shooter at the back and 8 megapixels on the front. The smartphone runs Android 5.1 right out of the box.
The ARCHOS Diamond Plus, along with the Diamond S and the Diamond Tab, will be on display at IFA 2015 starting September 4. The smartphone itself won't be available until November and will carry a price tag of 179.99 GBP, or roughly $275.
