Apple Wi-Gear Bluetooth buy denied

Wi-Gear CEO Mark Pundsack has denied rumors that Apple has purchased the company, after speculation earlier this week that the Bluetooth headphone specialists had been snapped up to head a new stereo audio drive in MacBooks, iPods and iPhones. According to MacWorld, Pundsack's comment on the matter was "Two words: 'I wish!'", before going on to say that "Wi-Gear and its IP are still available for sale."

As for the reason behind Wi-Gear closing for business, Pundsack blames a lack of funding rather than acquisition by any other company. Ex-Wi-Gear engineer and co-founder Michael Kim is currently working at Apple on their Bluetooth technology, but it seems this is an individual move rather than a sign that the company as a whole has been brought in-house.
