Apple TV 4.1.1 Update Fixes Picture Problems & Download Errors
A new Apple update for the Apple TV, v4.1.1, has been pushed out, in an attempt to address ongoing issues users are experiencing with picture quality and downloading streaming media. According to Apple's support documentation, the new firmware fixes a bug "that causes some high-definition TVs to incorrectly display at 480p" as well as "addresses an issue that may cause a movie or TV show to be re-downloaded."
It's unclear at this stage whether the new firmware is having any affect on the lengthy HD video download delays some Apple TV owners reported earlier in the month. Those users claim that the Apple TV reports waiting times extending into hundreds or thousands of minutes before HD content is ready to watch, while other devices – including the first-gen Apple TV – experience no problems with bandwidth.
