Reports have been rolling in that the reason for the lengthy delay in an update was because the newest line of Intel Core i3, i5, and i7 CPUs have been in short supply. The shortage of the parts has been blamed on a large order placed by Acer for parts.

According to reports that CPU shortage will end this month and Apple will release newly updated notebooks running the parts. Other sources are claiming that testing of MacBooks with dual graphics options have also delayed the refresh. It is likely that the refresh will include NVIDA Optimus tech on some MacBooks with dual GPUs.
