Apex Legends Season 2 'Battle Charge' Now Live, Battle Pass Detailed

After a ton of teases and a lot of build up, Apex Legends season 2 is now live along with a new battle pass and a new Legend to play. That Legend is Wattson, a character who can take full advantage of Ultimate Accelerants and lay down electrified fences to keep enemies away. On top of that, there are a bunch of new weapons and weapon tweaks incoming with season 2 along with new features like ranked leagues.

In the end, there are a lot of things vying for your attention with the launch of season 2, so let's kick things off by taking a look at Wattson. Her passive, tactical, and ultimate abilities all play off one another in some pretty interesting ways. Check out Respawn's description of each ability below:

PASSIVE: Spark of Genius

• Ultimate Accelerants fully charge Wattson's ultimate. Standing near the Interception Pylon boosts Wattson's tactical recharge rate.

TACTICAL: Perimeter Security

• Create electrified fences by connecting nodes. Fences damage and slow enemies.

ULTIMATE: Interception Pylon

• Place an electrified pylon that destroys incoming ordinance and repairs damaged shields [can place up to 3 Pylons at one time].

Of course, there's also a new weapon and some new items dropping along with season. We've already heard about these new items at length already, with the L-STAR EMG being season 2's sole new weapon. There are various weapon tweaks coming along with this patch as well, including a new rotation of gold weapons that includes the Flatline, Alternator, RE45, Mozambique, and the P2020. You can read more about the various weapon changes over in Respawn's official patch notes.

In its patch notes, Respawn also teases big changes to Kings Canyon with the arrival of the Leviathans, but doesn't say what those changes are. Instead, it simply says that it hopes players enjoy exploring the map and finding what's changed, so consider that your call to action to hop in game and have a look around.

Other changes of note include the introduction of ranked leagues, which are explained in-depth in a different post to the Apex Legends subreddit, and tweaks to almost all of the Legends in the game as detailed in the patch notes that are linked above.

One of the major draws of season 2, however, is the introduction of a new battle pass. After the somewhat tepid reaction to season 1's battle pass, Respawn promised changes in season 2. Whether or not this battle pass is better than the first is ultimately up to players to decide, but you can check out the rewards that are available for each tier over at the Apex Legends website.

This time around, players will be able to complete weekly challenges to get extra battle pass XP and climb through its tiers faster. There are also a few new content types available in this battle pass, including music packs you can use to change the music that plays when you drop and win, drop emotes, and loading screens. Respawn says that more legendary items are available throughout the various tiers of the season 2 battle pass, which should hopefully make it more rewarding to work through.

Make no mistake, there's a lot coming along with this update, so if you've stuck with Apex Legends up to this point, it's definitely an exciting day. Be sure to check out the patch notes for all that's changed, and head down to the comments section to tell us what you think about this new update!
