2021 VW Golf GTI Gallery
How do you revamp an icon? If you're Volkswagen, and the icon in question is the Golf GTI, you boost power, tighten up the styling, and throw in lashings of tech. Revealed ahead of its official debut at the Geneva Motor Show 2020, the new 2021 Golf GTI certainly looks the part with its squinting LED headlamps, narrow grille, and 17-inch wheels.
Inside, there are tartan seats, a golf ball gear-shifter for the standard 6-speed manual transmission, and plenty of new technology. VW's digital cockpit is included, as well as its 10-inch infotainment screen, Car2X communications system, and single-zone automatic climate control. A 7-speed DSG gearbox is optional.
Also new is the 2021 VW Golf GTE. That's a hybrid, delivering the same 241 horsepower as the 2.0-liter turbo inline-4 Golf GTI, but coaxing it out of a combination 1.4-liter gas engine and an electric motor. It'll have around 37 miles of all-electric range, too.
