2021 Lexus LX 570 Gallery
As SUVs go, the Lexus LX hides a surprise beneath its burly sheet-metal. Don't let the Lexus badge fool you, or leave you thinking this is some soft-roader at best. A shared platform with the legendary Toyota Land Cruiser makes sure the abilities live up to the billing.
A 5.7-liter V8 engine with 383 horsepower and 403 lb-ft of torque is paired with permanent four-wheel drive, a Torsen limited-slip differential with electronic center-lock, and an 8-speed automatic transmission. There's also locking differentials, air suspension for more than 11-inches of ground clearance at its maximum, and various other legitimately useful off-road options.
Of course, there's also plenty of leather and wood trim, leaving the LX's cabin unexpectedly lavish for a mud-plugger. The tech, though, feels dated, and there's no Apple CarPlay or Android Auto. That leaves this $90k+ SUV feeling a little like a one-trick pony.
