2021 Genesis G80 Gallery

There's a new Genesis G80, and "Athletic Elegance" on the mood board. The luxury upstart's middle sedan, the G80 sits in what's arguably the sweet-spot between the smaller G70 and the larger G90, and attempts to combine both enthusiast driving and cosseting luxury along the way. To do that, it taps a new platform, redesigned suspension, and a dramatic exterior design that you're not going to mistake for anything else.

A big, hero-crest grille at the front, quad-lamps, and a roofline that slides gracefully back into the decklid. It's bold and unapologetic, just as it needs to be as Genesis tries to move out from the shadow of its well-known German rivals. There'll be two engines initially, a 2.5-liter inline-4 turbo, and a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6. RWD or AWD will be offered with each powertrain.

Inside, attention to detail is what stands out. Genesis' theme – as in the 2021 GV80 SUV – is "Beauty of White Space" and an intentional nod to minimalism, albeit with a luxe-first twist. Top spec cars get 3D instrumentation, but all have an expansive 14.5-inch infotainment screen and smart cruise control that promises to learn how you prefer to drive. Pricing kicks off at $47,700 plus destination.
