2020 Toyota Corolla Sedan Gallery

Toyota's small cars are a big deal, and the 2020 Corolla sedan is arguably the most important of them all. Best-selling body style of a car that – since launching in 1966 – has sold more than 45m units, in its twelfth generation it's no bigger but a lot more advanced. That starts with Toyota's TNGA platform, but extends to design, engine choices, technology, and safety.

It's a more distinctive car to look at, with bolder and more memorable styling than the outgoing Corolla. Lower than that car, too, visibility is improved; look at the dashboard, meanwhile, and that's cleaner and crisper. An 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Appel CarPlay is standard on all but the entry-level car.

Under the hood, there's either a retuned version of the old 1.8-liter four-cylinder, or an all-new 2.0-liter. You can have a CVT or a six-speed manual transmission, but either way Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 – with features like adaptive cruise control, pre-collision brake assistance, and steering assistance – is standard.
