2019 Subaru STI S209 Gallery

Since 2000, Subaru fans in the US have looked on with howling envy as their Japanese counterparts enjoy STI S-line cars. Now, America is getting in on the act. The 2019 STI S209 will be made exclusively for the US, and it's been worth waiting for.

The 2.5-liter turbocharged Boxer engine has been upgraded with a boosted turbo, for an estimated 341 hp and more midrange torque. A close-ratio 6-speed manual is standard, as is all-wheel drive with front/rear limited-slip differentials, a Driver Controlled Center Differential (DCCD), and Active Torque Vectoring. The three drive modes have all been recalibrated.

Outside, it's 1.7-inches wider than a regular WRX STI thanks to a new body kit. Grippier rubber clads 10-inch wheels, while beefy Brembo brakes will bring things to a halt. Only around 200 will be made, though, so enthusiasts will want to get their wallets ready.
