2017 Ford Mustang Shelby GT350 Gallery

It takes something special if you're a Mustang that wants the infamous Shelby cobra on your grille. Currently, that means a 5.2-liter V8 engine, good for 526 horsepower and 429 lb-ft. of torque. Matched to a beefed-up 6-speed manual transmission and sizable brakes, this is really the epitome of the street-legal racer.

For the 2017 model year, Ford Performance made some upgrades. Most importantly, MagneRide suspension is now fitted as standard on the GT350 – previously it was a paid option, though standard-fit on the GT350R – which goes some way to smoothing out the ride off the track. Inside, SYNC3 is now fitted as standard, a welcome improvement over the almost embarrassing multimedia system that used to come by default.

On the track, the GT350 should still be a barnstorming ride. Out on less well-maintained public roads, the racing focus comes with some compromises. Expect tramlining and tooth-loosening shake over anything but the most pristine asphalt.
