2017 Buick Encore Is The Opel Mokka X, Set For Debut In NYC
Buick has been working hard over the last year or so to make its brand appealing to younger buyers. Buicks are often thought of as the car your grandma drove, but that is changing with cars like the Avista. Buick is set to unveil another new car that will debut at the New York International Auto Show and that vehicle is the 2017 Encore.
Word is that the Encore will be a version of the new Opel Mokka X that was recently unveiled. The design is expected to be very similar to that Opel model, but you can count on some Buick design DNA in the mix.
The only details that Buick has offered on the 2017 Encore right now is that the car will be making its official debut in New York. No hard details on the car were offered. If you are wondering what that Opel Mokka X looks like, it is the car in the second image with the orange-brown color.
That looks very Buick just as it sits. What we know about that Opel is that it uses a 1.4L turbo four with start/stop tech under the hood. The transmission is a 6-speed automatic and the Opel is offered in AWD flavor. The Buick is likely to have a similar powertrain.
