Toyota's 4Runner has a cult following, not least for its body-on-frame construction. Kept around for its better torsional capabilities during extreme off-roading, the architecture may not be as modern as a unibody but it's certainly effective.

That said, the selective all-wheel-drive of the 4Runner Trail, not to mention a scattering of other driver aids, certainly help keep the truck's mud-plugging credentials up to date.
