2016 Subaru WRX STI Gallery

Fan-favorite, the Subaru WRX STI has some serious rally heritage behind it. Not for nothing is the Japanese automaker known for its performance when the roads get twisty, and the STI carries that over to the street, jarring ride quality and all. With Subaru's aging 2.5-liter boxer engine and a sweet six-speed manual, there's plenty of time to play with the clever al-wheel drive and limited-slip differentials.

Outside, styling errs on the side of "look at me, officer" particularly with the love-it-or-hate-it rear wing. Suburu will let you switch it for a more subtle lip-spoiler when you place your $34,695 (plus $795 destination) order. Inside, a sober cabin has an underwhelming infotainment system but comfortable and supportive seats.

Sadly the hatchback has gone to Scooby heaven, but there's still plenty to like about the STI. You'll shake your teeth loose on ill-maintained highways, but grin like a loon when you finally reach the sort of back roads that the car adores.
