Yume Robo Robots Endlessly Climb Up And Down Wall [Video]

At the recent Shanghai Expo, where companies all over the world show off their latest inventions, Japan showed up to show off three robotic humanoids. The point of the robots, which are designed to endlessly climb up and down a wall, was to showcase their prowess in the robotics market. The three robots are called Yume Robo, and they've been on an endless journey ever since their debut.

Yume Robo was created from a group of 15 engineers, all of which came from either small or mid-size companies based out of Osaka, Japan. The three robots were finally returned to their home town after having been forced to climb up and down a 15-meter wall at the Japanese pavilion every 20 minutes. They've been doing the one thing they were created to for the last 184 days.

The three robots each way 30kg, and they stand 140cm tall. The process is a slow and exact one, with the Yume Robo calculating each movement before they do it. Starting with the left hand, the robot then moves its right, followed by the left and right legs, before it repeats the process over and over again, ascending and descending the wall. It's certainly not the fastest process, but with a bit more refinement and advancement in the technology used, it'll be no time at all before they're scaling those walls like spider monkeys. Check out the video below to see Yume Robo in action.
