Unreleased Samsung AT&T A797 Gets Sold Early
The Samsung A797 was one of those phones listed in a pre-release form outed over the weekend, but one of which there wasn't much information about. Until now that is, as the phone has appeared on the classified site Craig's List, in the money-loving hands of one Atlanta native. He's heading away from AT&T, on his way to Sprint's network, and so he's trying to get rid of it before making the switch.
The phone is rocking a touchscreen, but it's unknown whether it's capacitive or resistive. Considering Samsung's recent releases on the entry-level spectrum of devices with resistive screens, it's a safe bet that it's the latter. It has a bevy of other features, like Bluetooth, an MP3 player, and a full QWERTY keyboard that slides out, a la Palm Pre. Other details are scant, and the lack of a D-pad is a bit disconcerting, but hopefully Samsung plants TouchWiz 2.0 in this thing, so the end result might be worthwhile.
You can pick this phone up if you're in the Atlanta area for a meager $115, which probably means the phone won't be too much of an out-of-pocket expense on contract, when it eventually makes it to AT&T shelves. We'd guess the phone will release around $49.99 on a new two-year contract.
