Sony 4K Ultra Short Throw Projector Throws A Picture Up To 147-Inches
Sony is showing off a new projector at CES 2014. The projector is an ultra short throw unit that can produce a 4k resolution image. The projector is able to throw a viewable image ranging from 66-inches to 147-inches depending on how far it is from the projection surface.
The native resolution of the projector is 4096 x 2160. The lens of the projector has powered zoom up to 1.6x and powered focus. That powered zoom and focus comes in handy if the projector is mounted to the ceiling. The light source is a laser diode.
The projector is rated for 2000 lumens of color and white light output. In addition to supporting 4K UHD resolution, the projector will also support a number of other resolutions including 720p and 1080p. Connectivity includes RJ45 port, USB, and four HDMI ports.
Other features include 4K X-Reality Pro, auto color calibration, Motionflow Technology, 3D format support, and more. One of the important details that Sony doesn't mention is how close to the surface that projector needs to be to throw images. The 4K projector is expensive with a price of $30,000 to $40,000 when it launches this summer.
