Tapose app forced to include iPad 1 compatibility

Tapose app forced to include iPad 1 compatibility

It appears that there's some miscommunication going on in the world of iOS developers as Zanther, Inc, is reporting that Apple has forced them to keep iPad 1 compatibility on their app even though it's more advanced than the single-core processor should be able to handle. If you see this app on the app store now you'll find the message "this update not recommended for iPad 1 users" while the developers have released a message to the press requesting that something be done about their situation.

Microsoft Courier style comes to tablets with Tapose app

Microsoft Courier style comes to tablets with Tapose app

If you are a CES hound as we are you might recall at CES 2010 Microsoft showed off an interesting tablet with two screens called the Courier. At the time the Courier debuted, the indication was that the thing would actually go into production. Microsoft dashed those dreams when it later announced it had no intention of producing the dual screen tablet. If you like that dual screen style and the things that it could potentially allow you to do, you might like the Tapose app that has surfaced.

Samsung sets sights on stylus to beat iPhone and iPad

Samsung sets sights on stylus to beat iPhone and iPad

Samsung is set to have a pen-happy August with the arrival of styli-stroked slates large and small, as the company attempts to bypass the iPad and iPhone and establish its own niche. Challenging Apple's full-sized tablet is the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, announced back in February and finally hitting shelves worldwide this month in WiFi-only and HSPA+ flavors; however, long-standing rumors suggest a smaller "phablet" is also in the pipeline for an August reveal, replacing the Galaxy Note.

Will the Stylus Have the Last Laugh?

Will the Stylus Have the Last Laugh?

There are times, the SlashGear team reminds me, when I sound like a broken record; not least is when I'm bleating on about stylus input and what makes a "proper" tablet. Apple's iPad convinced the market that fingers were most functional, and the clunky digital pens of Windows 7 slates did little sway them otherwise. Yet with the news that note-taking app Evernote has acquired Penultimate, a digital handwriting specialist, could we be nearing the second coming of the stylus?

Wacom Bamboo Stylus duo adds ink to iPad, Android tablets and paper

Wacom has outed its latest tablet stylus, the Wacom Bamboo Stylus duo, targeting both iPad and Android slate owners this time but also catering to those moments when you need to use traditional paper. Building on the original Bamboo Stylus for capacitive touchscreens, the new duo version has a blunt fake-finger tip on one end, along with a regular ballpoint pen at the other. Meanwhile, there are new apps to go along with the stylus.

Four Microsoft Courier alternatives for Android

Four Microsoft Courier alternatives for Android

This week we're hearing quite a bit about a couple of applications for iPad, one of which was created by the folks who were once going to bring you the Microsoft Courier - but what about Android? As it turns out, these two applications for iPad, Tapose and Paper don't currently have one whole heck of a lot of choice when it comes to such sleekness as Paper. That said, there are four apps out there at least that will bring you drawing power for the time being - with updates to each on the way soon, of course.

Taposé hits iPad: Courier in app form

Taposé hits iPad: Courier in app form

Digital notetaking and collaboration app Taposé has finally been allowed into the iPad App Store, recreating some of Microsoft's ill-fated Courier concept on Apple's tablet. The $2.99 app promises to make journaling and webpage snipping straightforward, with a twin-pane layout for dragging live content between the web and a notebook, along with sketching, mark-up and other tools. Meanwhile a cloud storage system keeps notes updated - with export options to send them over to Evernote and Dropbox - and allows for collaborative work between multiple remote users.

iPad 3 to run iOS 6.0

iPad 3 to run iOS 6.0

This week sites appear to be finding a new operating system popping up in their access logs, these logs showing not just an unknown iPad version with iOS 6.0 and a new version of a web browser. This version of the iPad has been said more than a coincidental amount of times to be having a high definition display and an improved set of hardware to support it, as well as a slightly less likely ability to run on 4G LTE networks across the nation. Signs in access logs today suggest that this device will be running a new version of the iOS Apple mobile operating system along with a version 535.8 of the web browser that comes with the operating system.
