Samsung GSIII event will bring a Tab too

, Apr 20th 2012 Discuss [0]

At the launch of the Samsung Galaxy S III in London coming up extremely quickly it's been tipped that yet another Galaxy tablet might make an appearance as well. At this point it might make more sense for us to report the days that there's not a tip, rumor, or actual confirmed announcement of a Samsung tablet, would you say? This report comes from Aloysius Low from CNET where they say they've got a source familiar with the matter pointing towards another 10.1-inch Android slate. Read The Full Story

Apple jabs new Samsung Tab in Germany

, Apr 20th 2012 Discuss [0]

It appears that Apple is not satisfied with the changes Samsung has made to its Galaxy Tab line over in Germany this month as the Galaxy Tab 10.1N, modified from the 10.1 with no N, still infringes on the iPad's form and purpose - so they say. This same claim for the original Galaxy Tab has already taken hold in some other parts of the world and Apple has indeed succeeding in banning the 10.1 version of Samsung's tablet line for brief periods of time in the past - this time though, it's after Samsung took steps to avoid such a suit specifically. Will the Tab 10.1N, with its front-facing speakers and all, be able to avoid the Apple hammer in Deutschland? Read The Full Story

Samsung unveils Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 with Ice Cream Sandwich

, Feb 25th 2012 Discuss [0]

Samsung's hitting fast and hard with a gamut of press releases just hours before Mobile World Congress. The latest is the update to their flagship tablet, the Galaxy Tab 10.1, which has been somewhat lazily christened the Galaxy Tab 2, 10.1 inch version. From a hardware perspective it looks like an updated version of the Galaxy Tab 10.1N, the German variant introduced to curb Apple's enthusiasm for patent litigation. On the inside, it gets Ice Cream Sandwich with Samsung's TouchWiz UI skin. Read The Full Story

Apple loses sales ban attempt against tweaked Galaxy Tab 10.1N

, Feb 1st 2012 Discuss [2]

Apple's attempts to ban Samsung's redesigned Galaxy Tab 10.1N in Germany, along with the Galaxy Nexus, have failed, with the courts ruling that Apple's touchscreen patent was likely to be revoked in short order. "Samsung has shown that it is more likely than not that the patent will be revoked because of a technology that was already on the market before the intellectual property had been filed for protection," Judge Andreas Mueller told the Munich Regional Court today, Bloomberg reports. Samsung loses Galaxy Tab German Apple ban appeal

, Jan 31st 2012 Discuss [9]

Samsung's bad luck in German courts continues, with the company's attempts to have Apple's sales ban against the Galaxy Tab 10.1 overturned rejected this week. The Korean firm had protested the Android tablet's injunction at the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court, which found in favor of the injunction instigated by the lower court - initially impacting the majority of Europe, but later limited to just Germany - though for different reasons. Apple loses Dutch Samsung tablet ban bid

, Jan 24th 2012 Discuss [5]

Apple's bid to have sales of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 blocked in the Netherlands has failed today, with a Dutch appeals court dismissing Apple's claims of IP infringement by the Android tablet. The ruling - released in Dutch - found that while Apple's tablet design patent 000181607 is still valid, prior art including HP Compaq's tc1000 and the 1994 Knight Ridder concept meant the Cupertino company's design rights are very narrow. Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.0N Plus revealed

, Jan 12th 2012 Discuss [5]

There's a brand new Galaxy Tab in town, this one created in Germany with a new form factor that does a bit of sidestepping like the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N did late last year. Regardless of this, it does have the long awaited (by me) forward-facing speaker upgrade, this being the biggest change between it and its 7.0 non-N edition. Inside you'll be getting Android 3.2 Honeycomb right out of the box with Ice Cream Sandwich update in the pipeline. Read The Full Story

Apple has had its complaints about the redesigned Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N rejected in German courts today, with the judge deciding the tweaked slate differs enough from the iPad aesthetic. "According to the court's assessment, the defendant has moved away sufficiently from the legally protected design," Judge Johanna Brueckner-Hofmann told the court today, Reuters reports, with a full ruling expected on February 9 2012. Apple and Samsung have been embroiled in a worldwide legal battle for months regarding the South Korean manufacturer's smartphones and tablets infringing on the Cupertino company's designs and patents. Documents have surfaced today revealing that in seeking to ban Samsung's devices, Apple had to provide design workarounds to clarify exactly what sorts of designs would not be considered infringing. The list of alternatives is quite humorous. Read The Full Story
