Razer’s Project Fiona concept brings PC gaming to the tablet world

We heard about an ambitious new project from the gaming experts at Razer even before CES started, but a staggered release kept us away from their ostentatious booth until now. The "Project Fiona" concept device is a full x86 Windows 7 computer squeezed into a tablet device. Two things make Fiona unique: one, it's a tablet built wit the PC horsepower for serious modern gaming, and two, its unique control mechanism pairs physical buttons and triggers with a full touchscreen. Razer has delivered on its gaming tablet tease, revealing Project Fiona at CES today. A sub-$1,000 Windows 8 slate that could potentially launch in Q4 2012, Project Fiona packs a third-gen Core i7 Ivy Bridge processor and a hybrid user interface with a pair of integrated game controllers with analog sticks, each of which offers force feedback.

But they’re showing off the insane hardware at CES, and we couldn’t resist swinging by for a look at that integrated video touchscreen. The customizable screen adjusts for supported games, and works as a secondary display or trackpad for other uses.

Comet Lovejoy survives pass through sun’s corona

A newly discovered comet dubbed Lovejoy has survived an unbelievably close pass by the sun. The comet actually survived a pass through the sun's corona on December 15. The comet came within 87,000 miles of the surface of the sun. The temperatures in the corna can reach 2 million degrees Fahrenheit according to Space.com. Read The Full Story

Razer Blade gaming laptop ships imminently

Gaming device manufacturer Razer has confirmed it will be offering pre-orders on its $2,799.99 Blade uber-notebook within days, with the laptop – that has a touchscreen for easier in-game control – expected to ship in time for Christmas. There’s also been a quiet feature change, CEO Min-Liang Tan informed Kotaku, with a 256GB SSD taking the place of the originally specified 320GB HDD.
