Nokia E6 Review

, Jul 6th 2011 Discuss [20]

BlackBerry may be the name associated with QWERTY messaging phones, but there’s a vocal cadre of Nokia users all too keen to talk about the merits of the Finnish company’s keyboard-blessed candybars. The E72 met with mixed reactions, failing to quite capture affection the way its E71 predecessor did; now we have the E6 (aka Nokia E6-00), pairing keyboard and touchscreen and offering a taste of the latest Symbian flavor, Anna. Is the E6 enough to distract us from the rapid approach of Nokia’s first Windows Phones? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

, Jun 16th 2011 Discuss [4]

The Nokia E6 may be one of the last of its breed, before Nokia starts pumping out Windows Phone 7.1 Mango devices. The Nokia E6 runs Symbian Anna OS with lots of Ovi-branded apps and is perhaps Nokia's attempt to continue the legacy of its much-loved QWERTY smartphones. The device has been talked about for some time and has now popped up on Amazon for pre-orders. Read The Full Story

The Nokia E6 and Nokia X7, announced in April, will each get the new, faster browser, a native portrait-orientation QWERTY keyboard, and a boosted version of Ovi Maps with public transport routes among other tweaks. Meanwhile, the Nokia N8, E7, C7 and C6 will get an Anna update "in the coming months." Read The Full Story

Nokia Windows Phones detailed: X7-based W7, 12MP N8 variant, more

, Apr 19th 2011 Discuss [10]

Nokia’s Windows Phone ambitions have been prematurely previewed, with rumored details of four handsets supposedly in development being leaked. The company has apparently bypassed the so-called “chassis 1″ format – the tightly spec-constrained handsets we’ve seen so-far – and, according to Mobile-review, dived straight into developing “chassis 2″ prototypes which will allow Nokia greater flexibility in the design and components it can use. The initial four designs reportedly consist of X7 and N8 variants running Windows Phone, along with a QWERTY touchscreen candybar device similar to the E6 and a “cheap” all-touch device for the entry-level price point.

Nokia E6 hands-on [Video]

, Apr 12th 2011 Discuss [3]

Nokia has set itself quite the challenge with the E6, taking on the legacy of much-loved QWERTY smartphones like the E71 and E72. First impressions, though, are very positive. The 326ppi touchscreen is pixel-dense and responsive, neatly positioned to be stabbed with a thumb when holding the E6 in one hand. Meanwhile the physical keyboard delivers all the tactile feedback you’d hope for.

Nokia E6-00 leaks: Refreshed Symbian on QWERTY/touch candybar

, Mar 9th 2011 Discuss [3]

Nokia's E6-00 smartphone has leaked, the apparent successor to the Nokia E72. The QWERTY device runs Symbian^3, but unlike its predecessors has a touchscreen display for easier use. It will also run the updated version of Symbian, complete with four homescreens - rather than the three panes we've seen on the N8, C7 and E7 - and more flexible widgets. Otherwise we're expecting a 640 x 480 screen - higher than Nokia's usual nHD 640 x 360 panels - together with WCDMA/HSPA and WiFi connectivity, Bluetooth 2.0, and GSM/GPRS/EDGE. There's also talk of an 8-megapixel autofocus camera complete with an LED flash, but we're yet to see the rear of the E6-00 to know for sure. Read The Full Story

, Jan 5th 2011 Discuss [3]

SlashGear Week in Review – Week 46 2008

, Nov 16th 2008 Discuss [0]

It’s been a mobile device bonanza this week, with the AT&T Fuze landing at SlashGear and promptly getting hauled over to the Sprint HTC Touch Pro for a damned good comparing.  Meanwhile HTC have set tongues wagging by fettling a version of the Touch HD for a Russian WiMAX carrier: they assure us that the HTC MAX 4G won’t be showing up anywhere else, but forgive us if we’re natural sceptics.  Meanwhile Verizon finally confirmed that the BlackBerry Storm 9530 would hit stores on November 24th, priced from $199.99, AT&T released the QuickFire, and Nokia confirmed the open-secret that is the E63 smartphone.
