The Lumia 610 is an interesting entry into the Windows Phone family. Microsoft lowered the barrier to entry with an update to the OS, dubbed Tango/Refresh, allowing handsets with lesser specifications into the fray. The Lumia 610 is the first shipping handset that takes advantage of the lower specs, coming with an 800Mhz processor and 256MB of RAM instead of the old 1Ghz and 512MB standard. As a result, Nokia is hoping that the reduced cost of the handset will capture the entry-level market, and we imagine Microsoft will be keeping a close eye on the situation too. Those of you looking for an affordable Windows Phone will be happy to know that the Nokia Lumia 610 is now official available in the UK. Noia say that the phone will be offered by O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, and Virgin Mobile, as well as through third-party retailers like the Carphone Warehouse and Phones 4u. There are several colors to choose from too, with black, white, cyan, and magenta options, which hopefully won't clash with your snazzy red pants.

1.6% of apps incompatible with Nokia Lumia 610

Over the past few days we’ve heard more information about limitations that 256MB of RAM brings to the Windows Phone platform, with various reports coming in of the apps that won’t run on the Nokia Lumia 610. All About Windows Phone has taken a closer look at the numbers with regards to such apps, noting that while Microsoft has said that around 5% of apps are incompatible with 256MB devices, the actual number is closer to 1.6%.
