, Apr 4th 2012 Discuss [0]

The newest HTC handset this week (after two HTC One heroes, no less), is the HTC Evo 4G LTE, the second device on the market with the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core chipset. This device will have the Snapdragon S4 MSM8960, also known as the first 28nm mobile processor on Earth, and will be rolling out with HD Voice capabilities. , Feb 29th 2012 Discuss [0]

Microsoft has re-ignited the fervor behind its new ARM version of Windows 8 at Mobile World Congress today, and Qualcomm wants developers to know that it's behind them all the way. The chip manufacturer has announced that it will provide custom-made Snapdragon developer devices specifically for working on Windows 8 ARM. The hardware will be provided specifically with the intention of testing and optimizing new ARM-based Windows software, which will be quite a challenge as developers contend with new code and chip standards. Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 (Krait) gets early benchmarks

, Feb 28th 2012 Discuss [0]

The newest Snapdragon processor is bringing its A-game to the tablet with the Mobile Development Platform smartphone MDP8660, and the benchmarks are in. This device represents the first hardware preview of the S4 processor made by Qualcomm and is in full working order in a reference platform design not unlike the other development devices we've seen from Qualcomm in the past. What we're looking at here mostly is the processor itself, PCmag comparing it to the NVIDIA Tegra 3 and the TI OMAP 4, Anandtech comparing it to the previous model Qualcomm MDP with a dual-core Scorpion processor instead. Snapdragon S4 tests show Qualcomm pushing boundaries

, Feb 21st 2012 Discuss [0]

Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 processor has been put through its benchmarking paces, with the 1.5GHz dual-core "Krait" MSM8960 proving capable of indecently slick Android performance. The new chipset delivered more than twice the CPU grunt of any currently-shipping chipset in some tests, and while AnandTech's benchmarking is done on a Qualcomm developer device, rather than commercial hardware, conclusions like "this is the absolute smoothest we've ever seen Ice Cream Sandwich run" certainly leave us wanting more. , Jan 10th 2012 Discuss [1]

We were here at the Huawei booth and noticed the latest version of their Ascend line of phones. The Ascend P LTE looks strikingly similar to the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, and even runs an untouched version of Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The OS was still pretty buggy, but it was definitely not a letdown. Read The Full Story

Qualcomm: Tegra 3 is a “single use product”

, Dec 14th 2011 Discuss [12]

Qualcomm is pushing to make its Snapdragon mobile chipset brand more visible in the consumer marketplace, dismissing the threat of NVIDIA’s Tegra 3 as a “single use product” and even temporarily rebranding the Qualcomm Stadium as the “Snapdragon Stadium” from this weekend. Speaking at a pre-CES briefing today, Qualcomm’s Senior Vice President of Software Strategy Rob Chandhok suggested that, while Tegra 2 may have been found in many of the headline-grabbing tablets and phones over the past twelve months, “in the mobile space, I’m not sure that NVIDIA has any more brand awareness than we do.” The company is similarly unconcerned about the quadcore Tegra 3.

Asus Padfone packing Snapdragon MSM8960 S4 spied in GLBenchmark database

, Nov 21st 2011 Discuss [3]

It seems that the folks that run around testing out unreleased handsets can’t resist taunting those of us that don’t get to see the devices until they launch. Often we catch little glimpses of the devices in spy photos and in benchmark databases as well. The GLBenchmark database has offered up some goods on a new version of the Asus Padfone. This little smartphone slips into the tablet dock we covered back in May. Read The Full Story
